Frequently Asked Pest Control Questions
Q. What is Alpha Ecological’s “Green Approach to Pest Control?”
Since 1986, Alpha Ecological has offered a common sense approach to pest control. We follow an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) service model, which focuses on prevention methods as well a more targeted application of higher quality, reduced toxicity products. We don’t do one-size-fits-all pest control; we tailor each service to meet individual needs. Click here to learn more about our green approach.
Q. Do you use natural and/or organic pest control products?
We use a great combination of natural, botanical- and mineral-based products as well as cutting edge, synthetic biodegradable products that target specific pests. Three of the best natural insecticides we use include pyrethrin (derived from chrysanthemum flowers), diatomaceous earth (fossilized seashell particulates), and borates (a heavy-duty salt). These ingredients have been used for centuries and are highly effective in treating/preventing a variety of pests such as carpenter ants, termites, small ants, fleas, cockroaches, beetles, flying insects, spiders and more.
Q. What kinds of pest control services does Alpha Ecological offer?
Following an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) service model, we provide an array of pest control and extermination services. We offer carpenter ant and termite control, bird control, general pest extermination and rodent control/prevention. We also provide crawlspace restoration services, and attic restoration.
Q. What is the difference between “General Pests” and “Structural” or “Wood Destroying Pests?”
“General Pests” refers to nuisance and potentially harmful crawling insects/arachnids such as small ‘sugar’ ants, fire ants, cock roaches, spiders, silverfish, beetles, earwigs, scorpions, etc.
“Structural Pests”—or more technically, “Wood Destroying Organisms (WDOs),” refers to insects who can cause substantial damage to homes and buildings. These include termites, carpenter ants, moisture ants and wood boring beetles.
Q. What is a pest control Maintenance Program? What kind of frequency is recommended?
A Maintenance Program refers to a regular pest control service schedule. The goal of a maintenance program or ‘plan’ is to solve any current pest issues within your home as well as prevent it from future infestations. Maintenance plans begin with a comprehensive Initial Service (or ‘first’) treatment and evaluation, and is followed up with regularly scheduled visits that include both inspection and a targeted preventive treatment.
Service frequency is tailored to meet your needs depending on the target pest(s), climate, your home’s surrounding environment and more. We provide Monthly, Bi-Monthly (every other month) and Quarterly maintenance programs. Pre-scheduled follow-up visits can be increased or decreased as needed.
Q. How is a Maintenance Program different from a Warranty?
Our maintenance programs consist of on-going, regularly scheduled visits in order to manage and prevent pest infestations, whereas our warranty program entails one comprehensive service that includes limited free follow-up visits if pest activity re-occurs and you notify Alpha within the warranty period. Alpha Ecological offers warranty programs in one, two and three year increments. To determine which situations may warrant an ongoing maintenance program or a warranty, please contact us. Certain limitations may apply.
Q. Do I need to be home for maintenance services?
Follow-up maintenance services are conducted on the exterior of your home. These services create a protective barrier, keeping the target pest(s) from re-entering the structure. If indoor pest activity is evident beyond the initial waiting period, please contact us in advance to ensure an indoor inspection and treatment is scheduled along with your maintenance service.
Q. Do you service commercial or business accounts?
Q. How do I pay my bill?
Payment is due at the time of each service. Invoices can be paid in several ways: directly to your local technician via check, money order or credit/debit card; online, via phone at (800) 729-3764 or mail. Pre-pay for one year of service and receive a 10% discount off the total price.
